Projects

Healthcare

A personal project of Ryan's. Ryan will be discussing the local healthcare options and the healthcare challenges presented to locals and travelers alike. The discussions will be open ended and an avenue to better undertand the healthcare landscape across North America.

Going Metric

A joint project. From Tok, AK we will be entering the Canadian Wilderness. It is our goal to then convert all of our measurements into metric units, just like the Canadians did in the 70's. Distance, volume, weight, etc. Put simply, the US is lagging a bit. We'll do our part to enthuse those who are tracking us and who we encounter to consider the metric system as a means of measurement.

Cuisine

A personal project of Alex's. Always a fan of the cookin', Alex is going to survey the people across our dear continent about their cuisin and recipes. He's bound to find something good and new to bring back home. He might even keep a log of the food we consume, which will be anything but gourmet.

Daily Races

The New Deal:This thing has been a lot harder than we originally imagined. Towing 27 kg (~60 lbs.) of gear up and down hills and mountains daily takes a lot of effort. So the new race is against the sun. Each day we're going to try to get to our campsite before the sun hits the horizon. So far we've only lost three times (Sept 13). Pretty good right?

The Old Deal (Which is now canceled):A joint project. Once we get into trailer pulling shape we're going to conduct 2-4 shotgun races a day. Prior to the day the number of races will be determined, and both Ryan and Alex will know how many races they can call throughout the day. For example, if Ryan wants to call a race to the blue sign three hundred yards up the road, he'd declare the race then yell "Go!". First to the sign wins.
