Push America
As noted on the home page, we (Alex & Ryan) have been involved with Push America since the year 2000. We consider the mission of Push America to be both noble and courageous. Pedaling for People was in fact inspired by Push America itself.
We have both bicycled across the United States working to raise money and awareness for people with disabilities (Ryan in 2002, Alex in 2005). Most Fridays in college we spent the afternoon volunteering at Fairview High School working with their Life Skills programs. It is Push America we thank for teaching us the value of service, for teaching us about empathy, and for giving us the chance to better other peoples lives. Pedaling for People lives today because of the foundation Push America built for us.
Push America Mission
Building leaders of tomorrow by serving people with disabilities today.
Push America’s integrity to its mission is exemplified in every program. Push America programs were created to educate and provide a quality hands-on service experience for members of Pi Kappa Phi while enhancing the lives of people with disabilities.
Push America has the future in mind as many members of Pi Kappa Phi go on to be leaders in our communities, states, and country. Pi Kappa Phi members are serving on city disability committees, disability task forces within their companies, many undergraduates are changing their majors to special education, and others are more socially aware of disability issues.
